Mesa sits right next to our home base in Gilbert, so junk removal in Mesa is a short drive for us and often a same-day or next-day job when the schedule allows. We load from wherever things sit, price the job by how much room it takes in the trailer, and give you that number before anything moves.
How Mesa's Bulk Item Pickup Works
Mesa doesn't run bulk trash on a neighborhood calendar. It's a paid service you request online or by phone, and you pay by the load. One load is roughly 4 feet by 8 feet by 4 feet, and you can book up to four loads per pickup. Everything goes at the end of your driveway, not on the sidewalk, no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before and no later than 6 a.m. on pickup day. Branches and rolled carpet have to be bundled to 24 inches across, 4 feet long and 60 pounds or less. If the crew shows up and the pile isn't out, or it holds something they can't take, you still get a trip charge.
That system works well for a couch and a box spring you can get to the driveway yourself. Since you're paying for a pickup either way, it's worth comparing. With us, the price includes the carrying: we come into the house, the backyard or the garage, and nobody has to drag a dresser to the driveway the night before.
What Mesa Routes to Other Programs
The city's bulk pickup takes furniture, mattresses, exercise machines, TVs, bikes, yard debris and boxed household items. Refrigerators, stoves and washers go through a separate Appliance Recycling Program instead. Construction and remodel material isn't allowed, and neither are liquids or anything overweight.
We take the appliances and the remodel leftovers in the same visit as the furniture. Appliance removal covers the fridge, the stove and the washer, and anything with refrigerant goes where it can be recovered. The cabinets, tile and drywall from a kitchen or bathroom redo fall under construction debris removal. Heavy pieces like a solid wood dresser or an upright piano go with furniture removal, and we do the lifting.
Mesa's Hazardous Materials Facility and the County Islands
Paint, chemicals and other hazardous materials aren't something we haul. In Mesa, they go to the city's Household Hazardous Materials facility. It's paid for through the Green & Clean fee on your utility bill, and it's free to residents who pay that fee. Bring proof that you live in Mesa. The facility also runs a free Swap Shop.
Some addresses get caught by the fine print. Mesa has pockets of county land inside its borders, and residents of those Maricopa County islands who don't pay Mesa trash fees can't use the facility. For us, a county island address works like any other Mesa address: same drive, same pricing by trailer space.
Dobson Ranch and Mesa's Older Neighborhoods
Dobson Ranch was Mesa's first planned community. It started in April 1973 on about 2,000 acres that the Dobson family sold to Continental Homes, and it now has nearly 5,000 homes, with an HOA that owns seven of the eight man-made lakes. A house from the 1970s has usually been through a couple of rounds of new kitchens, floors and furniture, and each round leaves something behind in the garage or the side yard.
The city's roots go back further. Mesa was founded in 1878 and incorporated in 1883, and today 17.5 percent of residents are 65 or older. Downsizing, moving closer to family and settling a parent's house are all common reasons to clear a home, and an estate cleanout handles the whole place with care, one room at a time. A spare bed nobody sleeps on is a quick mattress removal.
When we sort a Mesa load, usable furniture goes to donation or resale if it can, and metal, cardboard and electronics get separated for recycling. The rest goes to licensed disposal.
Booking Mesa Junk Removal Close to Home Base
We're based in Gilbert, right on Mesa's southern edge, which makes Mesa one of the easier places for us to fit in on short notice. Call or text with what's going and where it is in the house or yard, and send photos if you can. On the day, we confirm the price, load the trailer and sweep up where everything sat.
We also cover Tempe, on Mesa's west side, and the rest of the Valley on our service areas page. Everything we haul is on the junk removal page.

No. Mesa charges by the load, and you request each pickup, so there's no set bulk day for your neighborhood. Our price is based on trailer space and covers carrying everything out.
Yes, in the same trip. Mesa sends refrigerators through a separate city program, but we load them with everything else.
No, that's the rule for the city's own pickup. We come get it from the garage, the backyard, a back bedroom or wherever it's sitting.
